Captain John Button

John Button has been living aboard a boat since Dec. 1989. In 1995 he began a circumnavigation aboard Boutonniere which took 10 years to complete. After considering the possibility of moving ashore he decided to visit the Med instead, a place he had bypassed on the circumnavigation. In 2006 Boutonniere took part in the Eastern Med Yacht Ralley with 79 other boats that started in Istanbul, cruised the west and south coasts of Turkey and then visited Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and Israel. At 76 he is a crotchety old salt.

Greg's Note: John Button can run circles around most people half his age. When I am 76 if I am half as active as he is I will be MOST grateful! John broke the sole of his shoe (sandal) today and it was determined the failure was because he walks so fast the heat split the sole cleanly through.
